At 53,195 acres, Santa Rosa Island is the second largest island in the Park and is a popular location for camping, snorkeling, kayaking, and bird-watching. ArcSine performed field investigations, prepared Contract Documents, and provided construction support services, analysis, and conceptual design of 60-kilowatt and 30-kilowatt cogeneration systems to feed community center electrical loads, and heat domestic water and a public swimming pool. Included were 11 historic buildings powered primarily by diesel engine generators, with photoelectric and wind-powered backup. The project provided power to the water storage tanks, generator building, four residences, wells, a shop/branding shed, barn, bunk house, and pier.

The design included a facility-wide networked control system, including automatic dimming. For changing and future exhibits, a felxible lighting system was designed. Fiber optic light sources were used to provide illumination of selected artifacts. « read less
